I have found a new program to organize projects with subjects. It is called notestar. I am trying it out on a propagation project I have going with the 5-8 science kids. It has a place to define the project, assign different tasks and message with the kids along the way. It gives them a place to research and take notes and will help them bibliography along the way. This is a trial and error project for me and the kids will figure it out way before me. It is my goal to build a propagation terarium, create brochures, start plants, and document the whole process in a video put into schooltube.com. Wish us luck.
The builders team if Dustyn, Gracie, Tyson, and Keith.
The plant start team if Mekanzie, Sidney, Ethan, and Emma.
The brochure team is Nicole, Jon, Megan, Dan, and Garrett.
As I think into the project further I will give each student a rubrics for them to follow and think about their and other team members participation, work generated, and product output.
Good luck kids on this project.
Now go to notestar.4teachers.org and we will try to work through this new process.

Integrating blogspot into the classroom
The 5th -8th grades are trying something new-blogspot-with Mrs. Cochran at the wheel. It is new to all of us and so far we are having a blast. A blogspot, ncochran111.blogspot.com has been created to be used for sharing school information and assignments. My intent is to post science assignments that need to be done online on this blogspot so students can comment their answers at home as well as school. I find that sometimes the students run out of time to finish an assignment during the time I have them with their assigned computers. Now they can do their computer homework at home and post it on the blogspot.
To do this each child needed to be assigned a gmail account. I have their list and will be sharing it with each individual students' parents. This way you may have access to their gmail account and monitor their assignments with me. Feel free to go to my blogspot anytime and give suggestions on its use.
If the students get confused on its use along the way don't worry it is a big learning curve for all of us. My son and daughter are using programs in high school that require them blogging assignments back to teachers quite regularly. I hope this is a step for them to get ready for the future.
Mrs. Cochran
